Continuous product development produces new TiO2 pigments
“Continuous product development and customer trials facilitate the design and production of our titanium dioxide pigments,” says Julie Reid, marketing director. At Highly-functional Material Week Tokyo we will be promoting new BILLIONS™ BLR-896+ pigment, a rutile titanium dioxide pigment for coatings, manufactured using the chloride process. It is specifically designed for industrial coatings but also performs well in architectural coatings. With its optimized alumina and silica coating, it is designed to provide superior weatherability for demanding exterior applications, combined with excellent optical and dispersion performance. BILLIONS™ BLR-896+ TiO2 pigment offers improved weatherability, opacity, tint strength, and gloss compared with our BILLIONS™ BLR-896 pigment. It delivers enhanced visual appearance and formulation efficiency.
“We’ll also be promoting BILLIONS™ TR53 TiO2 pigment, our most recent titanium dioxide pigment for reverse laminate printing inks. TR53 is made using the sulfate process. It’s been designed to deliver excellent dispersion and high opacity in relevant resin systems.”

“In H1 2024 we launched a range of new BILLIONS™ TiO2 pigments designed for plastics applications, and manufactured using the chloride process,” says Julie. “The range includes BLR-883 pigment, for use in high-temperature applications such as engineering plastics and durable films, BLR-885 pigment for highly durable exterior plastics, and BLR-887 pigment designed for high-quality masterbatches. Our latest TiO2 pigment for paper laminates is BLR-852, also manufactured using the chloride process.”
